Andrejs and Impy
From EMS and Cushings to good health and refined horsemanship.
Andrejs was new to horse husbandry and Impy was suffering reoccurring chronic laminitis. After 8 months of intensive work with a bare hoof trimmer (Jarrod Craven) and a veterinarian from Morphetville Equine Clinic, in conjunction with daily exercise and a carefully controlled diet, Andrejs is proud to be able to tell you of Imp’s journey back to health. Now learning in-hand work, Andrejs and Impy are forming a connection that was forged in health care and is quickly becoming classically academic.
Matilda and Peppa
A brumby from Koscuiszko National Park and a Veterinarian student dedicated to training using positive reinforcement.
Finding the time to deliver consistent, mindful and patient training to a young horse is hard, so Matilda and I teamed up to prepare and start Peppa under saddle using force-free training.
Kahli and Katie.
OTT TB Katie and writer/director Kahli are a perfect match- they hear each other.
Exercise for health, and skill development for connection, is a long game, and sometimes requires a village.
Phoebe’s Kenya
Ex-pacer Kenya is big boy with a great personality. Returning to fundamental training with Kenya has given him the education he needed to transition from his life as a pacer to his life as a trail-horse.
Un-learning to fear lunge work, learning rein and leg aids and starting two track work in hand have led us to a connection that has allowed us to progress to liberty work.
“The improvements in my horse’s fitness, attitude and ability since Katie has been working him have been amazing. As a super smart and highly traumatised stb, he can be a challenge, but her approach and ability to read his needs has created opportunities from these challenges and delivered incredible steps forward in the ground and under saddle. Katie’s willingness to move at his speed, asking things of him in times and places that are appropriate have got us to a place I wasn’t sure we’d ever reach.”
